Three Things Thursday

1. Yesterday, I ran eight miles in the morning. I'm lucky that my recently altered work schedule allowed for this, but man, eight miles felt like forever! I've done seven in the middle of the week, but that extra mile seemed to make it feel long. I felt like I was rushing around big time in an attempt to get ready for work by 7 AM. My husband was pulling out the driveway when I was coming up the street because he was going to head out to look for me. Kudos to those who are doing this type of mileage (and more) in the middle of the work-week!

2. I want to try a running skirt. I know there are two camps on these (love 'em or hate 'em) but I keep seeing them and think I might like it. I've looked online but hesistant to purchase thinking it's not going to fit right. They are pricey little suckers! I'll look around and see what I can find. The funny part - I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've worn a dress or skirt in my life. I am not a girly-girl in any way and I'm pretty sure the last time I was in a dress was at my wedding two years ago. Why in the world would I think I want to run in a skirt?

3. I've mentioned loving lists in the past. When I write things down, especially chores, they are more likely to be accomplished. Therefore, this weekend the garage, shed and basement will be cleaned up and organized. We keep putting it off but it needs done so badly!

  1. I say go for the skirt! I am not a girly girl either. I NEVER get dressed up. But I will not run in anything but a skirt. if you go to runningskirts.com you can use the code "runlove" for 15% off.

  3. I'm soooo with you on #2 & #3. If I don't write things down - they seriously do NOT get done.

  4. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the skirt. Super comfy! I did get a ton at Marshall's - $60 brand new is hard for me to justify. So, I got them for $13 (nike, addidas, and asics). I think you should try it!

  5. YOU MUST GET A RUNNING SKIRT. MUST. The cuter you look, the better you feel. Seriously. Get one :)

  6. Garage, shed, and basement!!! I'd be overjoyed if I could just get one of those three places clean by the end of the year!

  7. Congrats on the 8 miler early morning run! I feel the same way, that it's a bit hard to squeeze in before work unless you start running before the sun comes up! I have one running skirt and it was an epic fail. The little shorts undernethe kept riding up bad. But I am still hopeful that I will find one that works for me. Let me know if you find one! If anything I wear mine around the house for cute lounging clothes and it works okay for that.

  8. I'm liking the skirts too. But I agree...$60 seems like so much. If you go for it...post a review and some pics!

  9. I did 7 miles yesterday morning before work and I thought that felt long! Adding another mile on is goign to be tough next week... But I don't have to be into work until 8:30 so it's not too bad. I do not know how you run 8 miles & get to work at 7 a.m. You are amazing, girl!

Interesting thing is that I am a TOTAL girly girl. I probably wear a dress 4 times a week. But runnng skirts? I hate them! I do not know why as you'd think a dress/skirt lover like me would want to run in one, but I just do not like them for some reason? But I think they look great on others! I just feel I would look silly in one!

  10. This week, my mid-week mileage was 9 miles. It is the same next week. The only difference is next week I will be working again--urgh!

As far as the skirts go, wait for the end of the season (the end of fall race season, I mean) and I bet you will see a lot of those suckers on sale!

    I too am a lister!

  11. I'd like to try a different running skirt. I've worn one once in a race that someone gave me but it was a little big/long so it bothered me.
Way to run before work :) It's great to start your day out with a nice sweat session!

  12. OH I want to try a running skirt too! I never thought I would cuz I'm not a girly girl either, but I really want one. I think you should splurge -- reward yourself for your hard work. That's always how I justify it...

  13. I love my running skirts! I have 2 Adidas and 2 Saucony....Love them all...I like the ones with a compression short...they feel great and relaxed...Great job running before work...you are hardcore!

  14. Great job on the mid-week run! I would love to run in a skirt, but I would chafe like a mo' if I did. I can't even wear shorts much shorter than my knees and run more than 2 miles. It does make me really sad because, although I don't consider myself a girly-girl, I do also have a style blog and wear skirts and dresses all the time.

  15. I never wouldve thought I'd like skirts either, but now I swear by them. :)

And as far as any chaffing concerns...body glide works wonders

  16. Midweek long runs are the hard. I do them in the morning and I really have to plan my day around them. Usually I am falling asleep at my desk by 10AM because I am so tired!

  17. Great job on the eight miler! I am tempted to try a running skirt too. I just haven't bit the bullet and purchased one yet. We'll see!

  19. Hi there, great blog! Although I’ve run many marathons I think the Distance Dreamers is a very cool idea. Good luck and happy running!

  20. Great job on those miles yesterday, Abbi. I did a little over nine last night and twice felt like stopping in miles 8 & 9. It was a tough day.
