Curveball

Week 1 of marathon training went off without a hitch. All workouts completed and things were looking good. My hip pain has disappeared after spending many evenings making out with a foam roller. I'm running on the treadmill on cold, icy mornings without pain (the foam-rolling and increasing the incline a little more seemed to do the trick).

Week 2 should probably go OK as well. Beyond that, I'm throwing the plan for the next month and a half out the window and winging it. Why? I was thrown a curveball last week.

I'm going on a business trip... (you may be thinking no big deal)...

For one month... (you may be thinking that complicates things but isn't the end of the world)...

to China.

Needless to say, I've been a little busy and frantically figuring things out.

Where will you be?? I have American friends in Beijing, but they know people in other parts of the country. I'm sure they'd be happy to help you if you need help figuring transportation or anything. Email me if you want their info.

    Have a super wonderful trip!

  5. How exciting! I'd guess you'll be able to make running happen there. Check in with Chris K at BQ or Die...he was just over there and I know he got some running in.

  15. Great Wall Marathon --!! I don't remember when it is held, but that would be SWEEEET !

Seriously, I have flown many times to Europe, Canada, etc., and I don't envy a 20+ hour flight...

Good luck on the trip and make it a good time :)

  34. I've had several china men job shadowing me over the past 3 months to learn new tech, and they have a very interesting culture. Much different then ours. Enjoy the trip and make the most of it. Besides, add this to your list of far away places you have done some running.
