It just seems that work, regular household/life stuff and wrangling this crew is taking up my time and priorities these days. Try to get three dogs to sit together for a nice picture...it's not easy! :-)

Running took a bit of a backseat in June. But, during the last week in the month, I found my spark again. Still keeping track of mileage in a spreadsheet, I noticed I was probably going to come in at just under 100 miles for the month. Having not been under 100 miles a month yet this year, I didn't want to start with June, so I found the time to squeeze in a few extra miles in the last few days to hit 100 exactly for June. I expect those numbers to start going up again this month. I seem to have found my motivation again. I mapped out a schedule for the rest of the year, something I haven't had in quite awhile and it's amazing what that does for motivation. Suddenly, it's easier to get out of bed in the morning to make sure I get those miles in first thing in the morning.
A race always helps too...
July 4th my husband and I were signed up for a 5K and I decided I wanted to be under 25 minutes. I didn't know how realistic this was. I certainly haven't been doing anything to try to get faster at all, but still thought I was capable. But, that morning, I was feeling pretty good and went for it and happily got a new 5K PR of 24:13...now, I need to come in under 24!
My motivation is back. I'll be creeping up my mileage over the summer to get ready for the fall races I'm signed up for.
Looking back on my beginning of the year goals, I'm well on track. I hit a sub-2 half, ran a faster marathon, am somewhat on track for 1500 miles for the year (a little low right now, but still very feasible), and am already signed up for 2 ultras in October.
Congrats on the 5K PR! Your stats still manage to inspire me even when you were having a bit of a slump month. :)
ReplyDeleteYour doggies are so stinkin' cute!
Congrats on the PR! Nothing feels quite as good as that :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your 100-mile months! That is awesome!! I am just creeping closer to the 100-mile mark now with 95 miles last month. I usually have very low mileage months in the spring.
ReplyDeleteAnd two ultra's? I want to hear more!
Congratulations on your PR! You've had an amazing few months of running. Glad to read you again and to get a glimpse of your adorable pets.
ReplyDeleteTwo ultras??? Do tell!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Congrats on a huge 5k PR and this during summer times, can't wait to see when you run in fall/winter, you will be super speedy!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 5k PR. I am kind of slacking right now, but like you I rely on my Fall schedule. So many races, so little time!
ReplyDeleteSweet 5k time! and geesh! I love the little guy on the left in the top picccc!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. Always good to find the mojo.
