It just seems that work, regular household/life stuff and wrangling this crew is taking up my time and priorities these days. Try to get three dogs to sit together for a nice picture...it's not easy! :-)

Running took a bit of a backseat in June. But, during the last week in the month, I found my spark again. Still keeping track of mileage in a spreadsheet, I noticed I was probably going to come in at just under 100 miles for the month. Having not been under 100 miles a month yet this year, I didn't want to start with June, so I found the time to squeeze in a few extra miles in the last few days to hit 100 exactly for June. I expect those numbers to start going up again this month. I seem to have found my motivation again. I mapped out a schedule for the rest of the year, something I haven't had in quite awhile and it's amazing what that does for motivation. Suddenly, it's easier to get out of bed in the morning to make sure I get those miles in first thing in the morning.
A race always helps too...
July 4th my husband and I were signed up for a 5K and I decided I wanted to be under 25 minutes. I didn't know how realistic this was. I certainly haven't been doing anything to try to get faster at all, but still thought I was capable. But, that morning, I was feeling pretty good and went for it and happily got a new 5K PR of 24:13...now, I need to come in under 24!
My motivation is back. I'll be creeping up my mileage over the summer to get ready for the fall races I'm signed up for.
Looking back on my beginning of the year goals, I'm well on track. I hit a sub-2 half, ran a faster marathon, am somewhat on track for 1500 miles for the year (a little low right now, but still very feasible), and am already signed up for 2 ultras in October.
