I think I am going to attempt to get back into a Friday Food mode. It may not last since I'm not exactly consistent with anything on this blog, but I'm going to make the effort to do at least one food post a week which includes a meal from the week. Why? Well, there's a few reasons but there is one specific reason which I'll be sharing soon relating to a new side gig! Of course, I don't have anything for this week related to food, but I can share my thoughts on some nutrition bars.
Like many other running bloggers, a couple of weeks ago, I received samples of PureFit bars to try. I was up for doing this product review since I'm always on the look out for good, nutritious products that work with my stomach! They were advertised as gluten free, vegan, high protein bars that were nutritious and great testing.
I received the samples which included each flavor of PureFit bars: Almond Crunch, Berry Almond Crunch, Chocolate Brownie, Granola Crunch and Peanut Butter Crunch.
Right off the bat the company earned a plus one in my book. A message about adopting from a shelter? Works for me. Marketing companies love me!
The first bar I tried was Almond Crunch. Honestly, I didn't care for the flavor, it wasn't terrible but cannot see myself eating one again. It did keep me full with no issues when I ate it in the morning when I needed to eat something but could not handle anything heavy since I was planning a run in about an hour. The next one I tried was Granola Crunch. This flavor worked for me. I enjoyed it and had part of it before a long trail run and the other half after. All of the bars take some chewing a good amount of water to get down so I wouldn't be incorporating these while I run (hence the reason I ate part before and then the rest after). The chocolate brownie flavor worked for me as well but I wasn't crazy about the other flavors. Overall, a good bar but I can only see myself purchasing two of the flavors.
*PureFit sent me the bars free of charge in exchange for reviewing them.

I reviewed them as well and I agree, cannot eat those without a lot of water...and could not use them during a run either
ReplyDeleteKind of sounds like Larabars - I feel like i need to drink alot of water with those as well. Thanks for the honest review!
ReplyDeleteunfortunately i can't eat these - i think all the flavors have nuts and/or soy. and then there's the sugar issue too... but they sound decent!
ReplyDeleteThey are vegan! Sweet! I have never seen them before.
ReplyDeleteI am anxious to hear about the other gig :)
I'd eat one if it was free, but I'd never buy a vegan bar. :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting! I'd love to try these! I like the adoption part too. :)
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree about the needing water to get the bars down. They were good, but I felt like they were sticking in my throat! I do love that they're vegan tho.
ReplyDeleteOh, and TAG, you're it. :) http://29goingon29again.blogspot.com/2012/01/eleven-times-two.html
I am just not a big 'bar' fan. I always feel like they never fill the void where I need them.
ReplyDeleteNever heard about it,but sounds like a good food choice. I have a very sensitive stomach and can't eat a lot prior to running. Maybe I try this one out.
ReplyDeletei just got these to try and give my review on as well….interested to try them.
