July was to be my month with no schedules, no plans and the time for relaxation and stop going in fifty directions at once. I can't say I'm really there but think I'll be a little less scatter-brained soon...except I do need to think about that whole JFK 50 miler thing!
Running has been happening but it's been rather boring, not much to talk about there.
On Saturday, I went for 10 miles which was the longest continuous run I've done since sometime last month. I've been running a good number of miles, they've just been a bit scatter-brained as well. I've worked out a new routine that still allows me to get quite a few during the week, including plenty of dog running. I'm now taking mine first thing in the morning, before they eat for the day to avoid the heat. The only issue is they seem to forget by the end of the day that they already had some exercise for the day.
Running with the shelter dogs has been a little sporadic due to the heat too. I cancelled during the heat wave because I panicked that it was going to be too hot even for a walk. We were able to get out this week though. I didn't take this one far since it was her first time and she's pretty young, but she did really well.

What a pretty dog! She's so unusual looking, I hope that helps her find a great home!
ReplyDeleteI get really worried about my dog in this heat too - glad to hear you're getting your runs in!
ReplyDeleteIt's been so hot here lately, too! I am trying to pep myself up for a hill workout. It's 97 here so I am not excited about it... I hope it cools down a bit soon!
ReplyDeleteI thought July would be more easy going than it has been, but it's been pretty busy. I am still trying to catch up with people that I said I'd see after the CFA exam...
My critters didn't get a whole lot of outdoor time there for a couple of weeks either. Even the normal backyard play was minimal. They just didn't care to be out there, and I sure wasn't gonna force them. It made for some pretty rambunctious living room wrestling matches. haha
ReplyDeleteMy dog hates the heat and wants to be walked at 3am! Lately he wakes me up once at night, not cool :-).
ReplyDeleteThe dog is so cute! Once we have a fence, we are planning to get a second dog, I'll let you know :-)
It's too hot to do ANYTHING outside for very long. Let alone wearing a fur coat :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids are on me about getting a pet. I'm not so sure about it yet, but I WOULD love a running partner...
Stuff like paying bills is so lame. It's boring, and then all your money is gone. This heat is nuts!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful dog!
ReplyDeleteI'm a permanent scatter brain! Hard to believe such a beautiful dog is a shelter dog.
ReplyDeleteSo proud of you for having the dogs' best interests @ heart. It kills me when I see people walking their dogs on super hot days. Don't they know how hot the pavement is??
ReplyDeleteFunny that your dogs forget they had exercise! LOL
What a pretty dog! I always feel bad for my dogs in the summer. It's too hot to take them out for long in the day, but I hate to keep them cooped up indoors for so long. My one basset drools buckets if we keep take him outside for longer than a few minutes in the summer. :(
ReplyDeleteThe heat has been brutal. Humidity is awful too. Blech. Lovely looking pup!! Hope she finds a home soon. :)
ReplyDeletei can totally relate to this feeling! and feel a bit scatter brained myself...i keep forgetting things i didnt know it was possible to forget! its crazy! glad you are still able to enjoy some miles and time with the pups:) hope things calm down some for you soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, Abbi! I can empathize with feeling scatter brained and too busy. I'm not sure what direction I'm going in here lately. I'm glad you got the late fees reversed and are back on an organized track!
ReplyDeleteI hope that sweet doggy finds a good home soon.
Ug. I hate running in the heat. It makes me tired...so tired!
ReplyDeletewhat a sweet pup!! glad you are enjoying your july. i know what you mean about scatterbrained!
