Miles, Socks and Cookies

It is about one week out from the JFK 50 Mile.  I'm honestly not sure what I think about it at this time.  This week, I've been able to slowly creep up to more normal mid week miles which is good for my sanity level.  I feel OK.  Not bad, not great.  I decided to dig up an old post and read it today, hoping it will give me some motivation.  Being at JFK last year was the point I decided I wanted to run it since prior to that, I never thought I wanted to run it.  Hopefully over the next week, I'll start to get very excited and mentally determined to do my best.

Meanwhile, I've been keeping busy with plenty of other things, mostly related to work.  I also have a few products that deserve a bit of a highlight.  This blog is primarily for my own entertainment so product reviews do not occur too frequently...unless it is something I think I would actually like or buy.

First up, socks.  Gold Toe contacted me and provided a package of their Sport Liner.  They've become my go-to everyday socks, walk the dog socks, etc.  The fit and style is not what I like for running but for everything else, they are great quality sock!

Nairn's products also sent some cookies try.  A company that makes oat crackers and cookies.  Sounds like my type of company.

Well, they are Stem Ginger and Mixed Berry Oat Biscuits under the UK name but they are cookies under the US name and they are good!  Really good, particularly the Stem Ginger but I tend to love all kinds of ginger type cookies.  In fact, they might be a little too good because I cannot leave them alone.  They are on the healthier/whole foods side but they are still cookies after all!  Maybe if we called them biscuits it wouldn't seem as much like a cookie.  ;)

I would like to try their Oat Crackers but have never seen the products in a store.  After checking the US site, it does not appear I have any local places that carry them so ordering online would be the only option which in all honesty probably won't happen but maybe I will at some point.

Thanks to both Gold Toe and Nairn's.

Disclosure:  Both companies sent me products to try in exchange for a review, all opinions are my own.

  4. You crazy 50-miler people. Gold Toe socks are the brand my mom always bought us when we were growing up. Is it possible for socks to "bring back old memories"? :)

  6. My boys all live in those gold toe socks. Love them.

I hope you enjoy JFK. I'm sure you will be done before I am in from Stone Mill. My body is telling me that I might need to spend the upcoming week resting a whoooooole lot more than I am used to or I might be in for 10 hours of pain. Praying that we have blesssed weather and determined minds next weekend!
